Students will work in a variety of mediums: charcoal, watercolors, colored pencils and pastels. Younger age groups focus on developing motor skills and self-confidence; older classes focus more on developing core soccer skills and personal focus, and introduce an element of light competition. They will have the option to add color, gems, glitter, foam and many other items if they choose. Visions of Pride asks: What does it mean to have the freedom to be uniquely you? What does it look like when we are affirmed, dignified, and equal? How can we increase the visibility of LGBTQ+ as a vital part of our society? How can you show your rainbow? Participating artists will get a canvas, acrylics, and a little inspiration to create their masterpiece! Dress for a mess. We ask that artists do their best to create an exhibition worthy work. Please cover your canvas with paint completely. One canvas is allowed per person. The resulting art will be exhibited at the Easton Public Library! Chess by CT Kids Play Chess, Inc. - Chess - Spring
Chess is the fun game of thinking. It has been proven to develop memory, concentration, focus, logical thinking and the ability to calculate. The first class will be a review of the basics. Subsequent classes will offer some simple rules the student can use to select a move throughout the game. Sessions will involve a combination of learning and supervised playing. The last class will consist of a tournament with prizes. All participants must know how the pieces move and the basic rules of chess. Connecticut Kids Play Chess, Inc. (CKPCI) one of the largest chess teaching organizations in Connecticut, will once again run the program. Glenn Budzinski, the owner of CKPCI, a life-long chess teacher, Expert-rated player and certified chess tournament director, will teach the class. This is a 6-week session. Group Guitar Lessons Instructor: GlennStudents will need a guitar to participate. Please reach out to Keri (203)393-5597 if you need guidance on purchase/rental. -Students will learn to read the notes on the treble clef and how those apply on the guitar at a beginner level. -Students will learn to play and sight read the notes across all six strings from the open position up to the 3rd fret. -Students will learn to identify the rhythm of individual notes, rests and simple chords and how to “count” the rhythms and beats. -Students will learn simple but popular strumming patterns for chords and picking patterns for individual notes. These are the “practical mechanics” needed for any student that’s new to the instrument. -Students will learn what a “Major Scale” is and how it is the foundation of everything in Western Music. -Students will learn how to play together in duet and trio formats. Youth indoor tennis lessons at Samuel Staples Elementary School late fall, winter & spring this year. Classes will focus on teaching basic strokes along with playing lots of games. This is for beginners/advanced beginners. Portable nets will be used and classes will be taught by certified instructors. Chess by CT Kids Play Chess, Inc. - Chess - Spring
Chess is the fun game of thinking. It has been proven to develop memory, concentration, focus, logical thinking and the ability to calculate. The first class will be a review of the basics. Subsequent classes will offer some simple rules the student can use to select a move throughout the game. Sessions will involve a combination of learning and supervised playing. The last class will consist of a tournament with prizes. All participants must know how the pieces move and the basic rules of chess. Connecticut Kids Play Chess, Inc. (CKPCI) one of the largest chess teaching organizations in Connecticut, will once again run the program. Glenn Budzinski, the owner of CKPCI, a life-long chess teacher, Expert-rated player and certified chess tournament director, will teach the class. This is a 6-week session. Beginner: Player is introduced to the forehand, backhand, serve and volley with drills, fun games, and game situations.Advanced Beginner: Player has had introduction to grips and strokes, starts to make contact with ball on a regular basis.*Please note, children attending the 5:00pm sessions cannot wait unattended, they must be with a parent or guardian. You can register your child for the Ext Day Program from 3:45pm-5:00pm at a discounted rate, please contact the office at (203) 268-7200 for further details.
