Chess
This camp will be a combination of instruction and playing, with a majority of the time devoted to playing. A tournament with prizes will be held during the final class. Instruction in each class will focus on one of the three phases of a chess game: opening, middle game and ending. As much 1:1 instruction as possible will be provided. The goal is for each student to acquire the necessary knowledge to play a competitive game of chess during the tournament. Glenn Budzinski, the owner of the nonprofit organization Connecticut Kids Play Chess, Inc., will teach the class. Glenn has had a lifelong involvement with chess as a teacher, U.S. Chess Federation Expert-rated player and certified tournament director.
Min 8/Max 12 players. Bring a nut-free snack and water bottle.

Many of Glenn’s students have gone on to become state champions.

Prerequisite: Attendees must know how the pieces move and the basic rules of Chess.
